Allison Tai is many things, a mother, obstacle racer, coach, ultra runner, world record holder, and wife to name a few. Allison makes a mark wherever she finds herself. She is the mother of two young girls, won the Spartan Race Ultra Beast in 2016 (the weekend after a UB win in Sun Peaks), top of Spartan Canadian Point Series in 2015, second place at WTM in 2014. World record holder for fastest female marathon pushing a stroller in 2013.

But in 2006 the only thing on her mind was feeding and bathing herself without assistance after being hit by a truck at highway speed on a bicycle. From that accident, she suffered from a broke back, arm, and pelvis and additional nerve damage. The doctors initially told her that she probably wouldn't be running long distances for a while.

However, Allison took the injury in stride and recovered to run an ultra marathon less than a year after the accident. Since that time Allison has become a dominant female in the sport of obstacle racing and beyond. On the podcast this week we talk about her injury, recovery, obstacle racing, and how she breastfed her daughter during World's Toughest Mudder in 2014 and still finished second for women that year. All that and more this week with Allison Tai.

Erica Ness and her husband first bonded over their love of tiny homes. In 2012 and 2013 they built and moved into their own tiny home. In reality, tiny home living is much more complex than what we see online in the fancy photos or on the television shows.

Erica brings to this podcast her practical knowledge gained from living in 280 square feet of living space with a husband and a large dog. She talks about the process of designing, building, and living in their tiny home.

Erica is a self-proclaimed packrat and she and her husband are both avid outdoors people. Learn on the show how to manage a lot of gear in a small space and why Erica says to not just get rid of everything at once when you move into a tiny space, which is different from many of the shows you see on television.

She talks about moving their house from Northwestern Montana to Northwestern Washington over the Cascade range. As well as moving the house in Montana and a funny story about why you should make sure your doors are always properly latched in a tiny home.

On a side note, Erica is my youngest sister and joined the podcast from her neighbor's house. If you ever wanted to learn about how to live more simply take a note from my youngest sister and her husband.

Britany Felix sold practically everything to spend two months exploring the Western United States. She hosts the Living Unconventionally podcast where she interviews people who’ve ditched their traditional life to chase their passions around the world and she hopes to inspire others to live a life that truly fulfills them.

Britany joins the podcast this week to talk about her experience downsizing from a two-thousand-square-foot house into a small pull behind camper to travel the western United States. She talks about how friends and some wine and Facebook Garage Sales helped her declutter her life.

We talk about how you handle the sentimental things that you have inherited over the years from friends and family. Britany tells us a bit about her two week period of life on the road and her podcast Living Unconventionally helped her to make the final push to start creating a life she wanted with her husband.

Britany answers a few of my questions on how to get started on your own journey. She also gives us information she has gleaned from over 100 interviews with people who have gotten off the 9-5 track and now find themselves living unconventionally. Stefanie Bishop always grew up active from the time she could crawl. She competed in a number of different sports growing up, but it wasn't until 2009 when she read a New York Times article that would really spark something new in her life.

That New York Times article was about the Death Race. In this week's episode of the podcast, Bishop talks about growing up, being recruited to gymnastics from a birthday party, how winning the Death Race turned into a job in finance, and more. She talks about why she prefers adventure racing and other extreme endurance events to short distance courses. Finally, talks about the importance of community in long events.

Bishop recently won the 2016 World's Toughest Mudder and to many this was their first introduction to the endurance athlete. In our podcast, she talks about how she got into the obstacle racing world in 2010 then took a break for a few years but always had WTM on her radar.

Check out this week's episode, coming out on Bishop's 34th birthday!

Lindsay Webster, the Canadian professional obstacle racer, has become a dominant force on the race circuit for the past few years. She is the reigning OCR World Champion for women and recently won the Spartan Race U.S. Championship Series last month. In 2014, she emerged from out of nowhere to finish 4th in the Spartan Race World Championships. Since that time she has been a force to be reckoned with on the course. All the while training, racing, and exploring life with her now husband Ryan Atkins.

Webster joins the podcast this week to talk about growing up and her early athletic pursuits. She talks about her family and sister (who happens to be an Olympian). We get into her obstacle racing career, balancing family life with racing, how she gets over a tough training day, and finally how culinary school and sports fit into her dream job.

Join the podcast this week to get an inside look at what makes Lindsay Webster a champion on and off the course.
