Tyler Tomasello has lived a couple lives in his time on this planet. At a young age, he was a professional snowboard competitor. After his competitive days were done he turned to Ultra Running and has competed in races around the world. A few years ago he picked up his camera and has been exploring the world of photojournalism ever since.

He has combined his love of nature, people, and the outdoors into his work. He often tells the stories of the people who are normally missed by mainstream media. Whether he is traveling to Miami to document a hurricane first hand or to Afghanistan to showcase female ultra runners. Tyler is constantly looking for the stories that not many are willing to tell.

He joins the podcast to talk about his experience in Afghanistan and how he went to tell the story of a group of local female ultra runners and ended up coaching the women. Tyler tells of a different Afghanistan, one which is normally missed in mainstream media.

Tyler's work recently took him to Sittwe, Rakhine, and Myanmar on another project then directly after that he headed to Bangladesh. In his words "heading to Cox's Bazar to document and tell the other side of the story." Tyler is constantly on the move and it was an honor and privilege to get to sit down with him and let him tell some of his story and the story of the women he worked with in Afghanistan.

Samantha Parker and Kathy Rasmussen co-founded Badassery Magazine and co-host the Badassery Podcast. Both Parker and Rasmussen are ridiculously passionate about living a life of true Badassery, by definition, rendering all onlookers as awestruck.

The two women started Badassery Magazine as more than just a magazine, creating a global community of female entrepreneurs who live boldly, with passion-filled lives. Badassery has been featured on NowThis, The Daily Vee, Bold TV, and numerous interviews and podcasts.

Parker and Rasmussen believe that we all rise together and puts community over competition. You can find her winning at wine (it’s a sport) and blazing the trail for other female entrepreneurs.

On the podcast, the two talk about the genesis of Badassery Magazine, why we need a place for women to celebrate each other in business, and how they are changing the face of women in business with their magazine and events!

Donna Cameron has spent her career working with nonprofit organizations and causes—as an executive, consultant, trainer, and volunteer. She has seen kindness in action and been awed by its power to transform.

When she committed to a year of living kindly she considered herself a reasonably nice person (with occasional lapses into bitchiness), but she knew that true kindness was a step above—and over the course of that year, she learned that it takes practice, patience, and understanding . . . not to mention a sense of humor. Out of her experience was born the book A Year of Living Kindly. We chat about the book, kindness and why it's needed more than ever these days.

The recipient of multiple writing awards, Cameron has published numerous articles and, in 2011, coauthored (with Kristen Leathers) One Hill, Many Voices: Stories of Hope and Healing. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Donna now lives in a suburb of Seattle with her husband.

Episode Extra:

For Patreon supporters, Donna has offered a free one-page “manifesto” describing 10 key elements of kindness just for supporters of the podcast. You can get access to this bonus and others by becoming a Patron today for as little as $1.00 a month. Get access to episodes early, giveaways, and bonuses like this one.

When Anne Champagne crossed the finish line at the Spartan Stoneham Ultra Beast she made history. Not only did Champagne win the race for women she beat all the men by over 45 minutes. I checked with Spartan HQ to confirm my suspicion that Anne was the first woman in the race company history to outright win an Ultra Beast. Spartan confirmed that she was the first women to ever accomplish this feat and that only one other time in the companies history had a woman outright won a Spartan of any distance but that race was not an Ultra Beast according to Spartan HQ.

Champagne joins the podcast to talk about the race, how she feels making Spartan history, and a little bit about her life, training and more. Champagne joined me via a Skype call from her home in Quebec, Canada to talk about it all just days after she won the race. Champagne has been an obstacle course racer for years and frequently finds herself on podiums in both Canada and the United States.
